Team Cycling

Team Cycling is a sport that has been made famous by the exploits of Lance Armstrong and his US Postal cycling team.

A cycling team involves a group of cyclists and support staff like the manager, coaches, doctors, therapists, mechanics etc. that together participates in a cycling championship or event. Ofcourse the core of the team is always formed by the cyclists, but top notch professional cycling teams owe a lot of their success to their teams. Its similar to grandprix racing where a say, Ferrari or a Toyota has its own team.

Some of the famous cycling teams in the world are the US Postal Cycling Team, The T Mobile Cycling Team, Liberty Seguros-Wurth team amongst others. All rules and points system for professional team cycling are enforced by the Union Cycliste Internationale, where all the top bracket professional cycling teams are registered.

Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team

Discovery channel has started the biggest cycling event in the world, it began with the US and involves all countries today. This is the postal cycling team which began in the US and now has a Australia postal cycling team as well.

Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team is a professional cycle racing team based in the United States of America. Earlier known as the US Postal Service Pro Cycling Team, it is today amongst the top cycling teams in the world competing in the UCI Pro tour. The US Postal Services Team was formerly led by Lance Armstrong, the record breaking cyclist who made won seven Tour de France titles with the team, after recovering from cancer.

Cycling Clubs in Australia

There are several cycling clubs in Australia . One of the well known clubs is The Northern Sydney Cycling Club that organizes races on Sundays and public holidays at Beaumont road, mt ku-ring gai all year round.The Northern Sydney Cycling Club (NSCC) is affiliated to the Northside Clubs Combine Racing Program that also features races held by other clubs like Central Coast CC, Harlequin Wheelers and Bicisport among others. To participate in one of the races under the aegis of the NSCC, the riders are required to be members of a cycling club recognised by the Australian Cycling Federation (ACF).
